TANGERINE DREAM – Pergamon Live at the 'Palast der Republik' GDR
This is by far the best Tangerine Dream’s live album composed of two quite different tracks. Side´s 1 is rather mellow, opening with a beautiful melodic piano passage and continues with helium-boosted floating keyboards textures. Then repetitive melodic sequencers begin through floating and dreamy keyboards. The ensemble is extremely hypnotic and spacey, being absolutely neither linear nor monotonous. It is actually partly the live experience of some parts of the Tangram album that transports you into an ethereal quiet world. Side’s 2 however is the real jewel, the atypical build up from all TD's members until Edgar Froese plays which must undoubtedly rank as one of his best guitar solo. All the time Schmoelling and Franke's input of equally high standard. There is also a Force Majeure feel to this piece as well which he arks back to their peak from a creative standpoint. The energy on this album throbs and pulses and guarantees to get your adrenalin going. The loudest played the best captured.
